Washington & Greene Counties Covered Bridge Festival

Step back in time at Meadowcroft's historic Pine Bank Covered Bridge, originally built in 1871. This beautifully restored pedestrian bridge has quite a story—it once crossed Tom's Run in Greene County before facing demolition in 1961. The site's founder rescued it and moved the bridge nearly 70 miles to Meadowcroft, where it stands today as a testament to 19th-century craftsmanship. After major restoration work in 2017, it's become a fascinating look at a vanishing piece of American history (fewer than 700 covered bridges remain out of the 10,000 that once existed across the country). During the festival, admission to Meadowcroft's historic villages and the Pine Bank Bridge is completely free for families. If you'd like to explore the Rockshelter with a guided tour, those are available for just $5 per person. Note that the bridge is pedestrian-only, so it's perfect for a leisurely stroll and some great photo opportunities.
