Drop by Pittsburgh Glass Center for a hands-on introduction to glassmaking without any advance planning needed. During this event, you'll have about 20 minutes to create either a paperweight or a blown glass ornament with guidance from experienced artists. The $55 fee per person covers instruction and your finished piece. No glassmaking experience is required—this is designed as a quick, accessible way to try the craft with plenty of support from staff. Kids ages 5 and up can participate alongside an adult. Registration happens on-site at the Front Desk when you arrive, and spots are limited to 6 per hour, so popular times may fill up fast. One thing to keep in mind: your finished glass piece needs time to cool and can be picked up five days after your visit, though shipping can be arranged for an additional cost. If you'd like a longer, more hands-on glassmaking experience, the center also offers other activities you can register for in advance.
