Your family can drop by Pittsburgh Glass Center to try glassmaking with no advance signup needed. In about 20 minutes or less, you'll work alongside our artists to create either a glass paperweight or a blown glass ornament. This is a perfect introduction if you're curious about glassmaking but want to keep things short and manageable. Kids ages 5 and up can participate with an adult present. The cost is $55 per person, and you'll sign up at the Front Desk when you arrive—just know that only 6 seats are available each hour, so spots can fill up quickly. Keep in mind that your finished piece will need time to cool and can be picked up five days after your visit. If you'd prefer to take it home right away, shipping is available for an additional fee. The studio does get warm since you're working with hot glass, so dress in lightweight, breathable clothing. Water is available on-site. If your family wants a deeper hands-on experience, the center also offers other glassmaking activities where you can register ahead of time to guarantee a spot.
