Your family can drop by Pittsburgh Glass Center to try glassmaking without signing up ahead of time. In just 20 minutes or less, you'll create either a small paperweight or a blown glass ornament with guidance from experienced artists. This is a perfect introduction if your family has never worked with glass before—no skills needed. The cost is $55 per person, and children as young as 5 can participate (with an adult present). Keep in mind that space is limited to 6 spots per hour, and availability can fill up quickly, so arriving early gives you the best chance of getting a seat. When you arrive, simply check in at the front desk to sign up. One thing to remember: your finished pieces need time to cool and can be picked up five days after your visit. If you'd prefer a more in-depth hands-on experience or want to guarantee a spot, the center also offers other glassmaking activities that allow advance registration.
