Drop by Pittsburgh Glass Center for a quick introduction to glassmaking—no experience or advance booking needed. In about 20 minutes, you'll work with our instructors to create either a paperweight or a blown glass ornament. The whole experience costs $55 per person, and kids ages 5 and up are welcome as long as an adult participates alongside them. Just head to the Front Desk when you arrive to claim one of the six available spots each hour. Keep in mind that spots fill up fast, so arriving early gives you the best chance of getting in. Since the glass needs time to cool, you won't take your finished piece home the same day—plan to pick it up five days later. If you can't return in person, shipping can be arranged for an extra fee. Dress in light, natural fabrics for comfort and safety. The center also offers other glassmaking activities if you'd like a more hands-on experience; those require advance registration but guarantee your spot.
