Walk In + Make-It-Now

Your family can stop by Pittsburgh Glass Center anytime during operating hours to try glassmaking without signing up ahead of time. During this drop-in session, you'll have about 20 minutes to create either a glass paperweight or a blown glass ornament with guidance from the center's artists. The cost is $55 per person. Children as young as 5 can participate alongside an adult, and no prior experience is necessary—this is designed as an accessible introduction to the craft. Keep in mind that only 6 spots are available each hour, and sessions can fill up quickly, so arriving early is a good idea. One thing to remember: because the glass needs time to cool, you won't be able to take your finished piece home the same day. You can pick it up five days later, or arrange to have it shipped for an additional fee. The center also offers other glassmaking activities if your family wants a longer, more hands-on experience—those require advance registration but guarantee your spot.
