Your family can drop by Pittsburgh Glass Center and create a piece of glass art on the spot—no advance booking needed. In about 20 minutes or less, you'll work alongside experienced artists to make either a paperweight or a blown glass ornament. The $55 cost per person includes all materials and instruction, making it a perfect introduction to glassmaking for families new to the craft. Kids ages 5 and up can participate with an adult, so even younger children get a chance to try this hands-on experience. Just note that space is limited to 6 participants per hour, and spots are claimed first-come, first-served at the front desk when you arrive—it's worth getting there early if you're interested. Since the glass needs time to cool, you'll pick up your finished piece five days after your visit (shipping can be arranged for an extra fee).
