THE OLD ALLEGHENY COUNTY JAIL AND MUSEUM-FREE

The Old Allegheny County Jail Museum showcases an original cell block from the original 1886 jail building, which operated until 1995. The museum is open on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month (excluding court holidays), with visits welcome anytime between 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Getting in is straightforward: enter the Family Court Building's main entrance and proceed through security screening—a normal part of visiting a courthouse. The museum itself is located nearby in the building. While the visit is completely free, note that photography is not permitted inside.
