Stewardship Days – Hays Woods Park

Family stewardship day at Hays Woods Park—explore and help nature.

Join a volunteer morning dedicated to caring for Pittsburgh's newer 626-acre urban forest at Hays Woods Park. During these three-hour sessions, families and community members pitch in on meaningful conservation work—from removing invasive plant species and maintaining trails to cleaning up the park and tending the entry garden. It's a chance to learn firsthand about ecological restoration while making a real difference in this beautiful greenspace. Between work sessions, you'll have time to explore the park's trails and get to know the landscape you're helping to protect. No special experience is needed; volunteers of all ages and skill levels are welcome. Before attending, please review the safety guidelines and waiver required for participation. Note that photography may occur during the event, and the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy asks attendees to follow current health and safety guidelines.
