Slightly Spooky Beginner’s Mushroom Walk

Explore the natural and historical side of Dead Man's Hollow on this guided mushroom walk led by ALT staff and local mycology expert Julie Travaglini. You'll hike 0.9 miles each way along the Great Allegheny Passage to discover the area's fungi and learn about the hollow's intriguing past. This is a perfect outing for families curious about mushrooms and local history—and yes, costumes are welcome as long as they're comfortable for hiking. The walk happens rain or shine, so come prepared for any weather. This is a beginner-friendly program suitable for ages 3 and up (children 2 and under are free). Note that this walk focuses on identifying and observing mushrooms rather than foraging or discussing which ones are edible. General admission is $5 per person. Since walk-ins aren't permitted, you'll need to register in advance. Tickets under $25 are non-refundable, though cancellations become tax-deductible donations to Allegheny Land Trust.
