The National Aviary welcomes families with sensory processing needs during this specially designed experience. Your child can explore the aviary while enjoying a calmer, more inclusive environment tailored to their comfort. You'll have chances to touch real biofacts like eggs and feathers, and at 11 am there's a sensory-friendly version of Passport to Parks presented by AAA Travel. The Interactive Play Spaces, including a larger-than-life Draw Alive station, offer engaging activities throughout your visit. To support sensory needs, the aviary provides Sensory Bags from KultureCity (available to borrow daily) that include items like headphones and fidget toys. A helpful sensory guide describing the sights, sounds, and climate of each habitat is available before your visit and during it, so you can prepare ahead. There's also a sensory table on-site for additional comfort. Registration in advance is required, so plan ahead to secure your spot for this family-friendly outing.
