Kids Club

Kids Club: Learning About LAMP Your child will explore how the Carnegie Library makes reading and art available to everyone, including people with disabilities. The program focuses on LAMP, the Library of Accessible Media for Pennsylvanians, and introduces kids to braille and how it works. Participants will also get hands-on experience creating tactile art—pieces designed so people with visual impairments can fully enjoy and appreciate them. It's a great way for school-age children to learn practical skills while developing empathy and understanding for people with different abilities. This event is designed for kids in kindergarten through fifth grade and runs for one hour. It's part of the library's broader Disability Pride 2026 programming, making it a meaningful activity during a month celebrating inclusion and accessibility. Your child will leave with new knowledge about adaptive technologies and creative ways art can be inclusive for all.
