Kids Club: Hojalata (Mexican Tin Art)
Learn the history and craft of Mexican tin art at Carnegie Library's Kids Club.
Your child will dive into the art of hojalata, or Mexican tin art, during this one-hour Kids Club session. Participants will explore the cultural history behind this traditional craft and learn about important elements of Mexican heritage, including Aztec patterns and traditions. The hands-on portion has kids creating their own tin art pieces by carefully tracing designs onto foil using a stylus—a satisfying introduction to this centuries-old technique.
This program is designed for kindergarten through fifth-grade students and is part of the library's Hispanic and Latin Heritage Month celebration. It's a great way for kids to try something new, learn about different cultures, and walk away with their own handmade creation. For more information or to register, you can reach the library directly at the number or email listed on this page.
