Kids Club: Cherokee Pinch Pots

Kids Club: Cherokee Pinch Pots

Kids learn about Cherokee culture and language while making handmade clay pinch pots.

Your child will explore Cherokee culture during this hands-on library program designed for elementary-aged kids. The session introduces basic Cherokee language words while children learn about the traditions and history of the Cherokee people. Each participant will create their own pinch pot—a classic pottery technique—to take home as a keepsake from the activity. This workshop is part of the library's Native American and Indigenous Peoples Heritage Month programming for November. It's a great way for kids in kindergarten through fifth grade to try a new craft while gaining cultural knowledge in a welcoming library setting.
