**History Alive! Meet the Sheep!** Your family can meet Jacky and Patsy, two resident ewes living at the Fort this fall, and discover what animals meant to frontier life in the 18th century. From 1758 to 1766, thousands of horses, cattle, pigs, goats, and sheep were essential to Fort Ligonier—they fed soldiers, carried supplies, and pulled wagons and artillery. This visit offers a hands-on way to connect with that history. History Alive! is the Fort's weekend program featuring period-appropriate artisans, tradesmen, musicians, and historical interpreters who bring colonial-era daily life to vivid life. The sheep encounter is just one part of this immersive experience that helps visitors understand what a frontier military outpost was really like. History Alive! programs are included with regular admission, and they're always free for Fort Ligonier Association members. This is a great activity for families interested in history, animals, or experiential learning.
