Bring your family for a free evening of hands-on creativity and artistry at this special celebration of 25 years at the Pittsburgh Glass Center. You'll watch live demonstrations as skilled artists work with molten glass, transforming it into beautiful pieces right before your eyes. Browse exhibitions showcasing contemporary glass art, including the opening of a new show called "Forged in Flames: 25 Years of Art on Fire." The real highlight is getting to try glassworking yourself. Choose from three different activities based on your comfort level and age. The Hot Shop lets you work with 2,000°F molten glass with instructor guidance to create a unique piece—it only takes 10-15 minutes per person. The Kiln Shop offers a cooler option where you design fused glass art using colorful glass pieces, which the center fires overnight so you can pick it up later. The Flame Shop provides another seated option using a tabletop torch to shape glass rods. All three activities are suitable for ages 5 and up (Flame Shop is 8+), involve a mix of sitting and standing, and take place in climate-controlled or well-ventilated spaces. Water and restrooms are available.
