Girty’s Woods: Trail Building (Halloween Edition!)
Volunteer trail-building activity in a festive Halloween spirit at Girty's Woods near Pittsburgh.
Join the ALT stewardship team for a morning of meaningful outdoor work at Girty's Woods. Volunteers will help complete a final section of trail by clearing brush and debris using hand tools like loppers, saws, and rakes. You'll hike several miles through mixed terrain and get a real sense of the effort that goes into maintaining these local woods. It's a hands-on way to contribute to a community resource while enjoying the outdoors—with a fun Halloween twist!
Registration is required, and participants need to arrive on time. Wear long pants and closed-toe shoes; long sleeves and a hat are strongly recommended for sun and bug protection. Tools and gloves are provided, though you're welcome to bring your own. Children under 18 must have an adult present. The team will provide water and light snacks, but bring a full water bottle and consider packing lunch to make it a full day outside. Optional donations support ALT's ongoing stewardship work in the region.
