Fort Ligonier Days

Step back in time at this multi-day celebration of a pivotal moment in American history. Fort Ligonier Days brings the 18th century to life with battle reenactments, cannon firings, period encampments, and interactive demonstrations. You and your family can chat with costumed reenactors about military life, clothing, and daily conditions from that era. It's a hands-on way to experience history beyond the typical museum visit. The festival features Sutlers Row, an artisan marketplace on the museum's front lawn showcasing 18th-century crafts and food. A major highlight is fresh-baked bread from Mount Vernon's Resident Baker Justin Cherry, who uses his massive clay oven to create multi-grain loaves inspired by soldiers' rations—though fair warning, he sells out quickly each year. The museum itself houses impressive archaeological finds and offers a new America 250 exhibit. Kids 17 and under get free admission on Saturday and Sunday. Note that parking at the fort isn't available during the festival; use designated lots with shuttle service instead.
