Exploring Photographs: Pinhole Cameras

Exploring Photographs: Pinhole Cameras

Build your own pinhole camera and discover how photography works at the library.

Your family can explore the fascinating history and science of pinhole photography at this hands-on workshop. Participants will discover how these simple cameras—which use just a tiny opening instead of a lens—capture images through a natural phenomenon called camera obscura that's been observed since ancient times. You'll build your own pinhole camera during the session and learn the practical steps for using it to expose film and create actual photographs. All materials needed are included, so there's nothing to bring or purchase separately. This is designed for adult learners who want to try something creative and learn a new skill. The session runs one hour and takes place in the library's third-floor conference room. Registration is currently full, so check back if spots open up or contact the library directly about future sessions.
