Crows + Trinkets HOT Jam

Crows + Trinkets HOT Jam

Make sparkly glass art at Pittsburgh Glass Center's hands-on HOT Jam workshop.

Celebrate Pittsburgh's winter crows at this free evening of glass art and nature discovery. Partnering with the National Aviary, this event invites families to learn why thousands of crows flock to our city each year and what draws them to collect shiny objects. You'll watch skilled artists demonstrate glassblowing techniques, see molten glass transformed into bird sculptures and nests, and meet aviary experts who share insights about these intelligent birds. The night offers hands-on activities for kids and grown-ups alike. Children ages 5 and up can create their own flameworked glass eggs or fused glass bird-themed suncatchers—a perfect keepsake from the evening. All activities are free and designed to be accessible, with options ranging from the warm Hot Shop experience to the climate-controlled Flame Shop and Kiln Shop. Expect live demonstrations, interactive stations, and the chance to feel the heat of real glassmaking up close. Bring water and wear light, natural-fiber clothing for comfort during the activities.
