Blacksmithing Basics: Hooks & Hairpins

Ever wanted to try your hand at metalworking? This three-hour introductory workshop gives you a chance to learn the fundamentals of blacksmithing in a real industrial setting. You'll work with hot steel and traditional blacksmithing tools to create either a decorative hook or hairpin that you'll take home as a finished piece. The class is taught by Jared Ondovchik, a local artist and bladesmith, and is capped at 16 participants, so advance ticket purchase is strongly recommended. Before you go, come prepared: wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty, bring closed-toe shoes suitable for uneven ground, and dress for the weather since the workshop space isn't climate controlled. The site has portable bathrooms and hand-washing stations available, though food isn't offered on-site. Tickets are $90 per person.
