Being with Art, Being Together

Art appreciation event at Carnegie Museum of Art.

Being with Art, Being Together offers families a chance to slow down and engage with contemporary art in a thoughtful, guided setting. Led by the museum's director of education and public programs, this drop-in session invites you to look at artwork together while practicing deep listening—exploring how shared experience shapes the way we understand art. The program centers on works from the 59th Carnegie International, one of the longest-running international art exhibitions in North America, and encourages visitors to connect what they see to their own thoughts and feelings. Sessions run for one hour and are offered on three dates throughout the spring and summer. Admission is free with your museum ticket, making this a low-pressure way to try a more reflective museum visit. Whether you're looking to introduce kids to contemporary art or simply want a calmer gallery experience focused on conversation, this program welcomes all ages and comfort levels. No art background is necessary—just a willingness to spend time with others and think about what you're seeing.
