Aquatic Academy: Water Treatment Learning Lab

This full-day workshop invites teachers to explore how Pittsburgh's water gets cleaned and treated for our communities. Held at the PgH20 Water Treatment Plant, educators will dive into hands-on learning about water quality, treatment processes, and resource protection. You'll also discover connections to current educational standards, climate considerations, and emerging trends in water science—all designed to help you bring these topics back to your classroom. The day wraps up with expert presentations focused on water industry careers, giving you tools to introduce students to meaningful job opportunities in this field. Participants receive approximately $100 worth of classroom resources to take home, plus lunch and 5.5 hours of ACT 48 professional development credits. Registration is required (no drop-ins), and you'll need to attend the full day and complete a waiver to access the facility. Tickets are $10 per person.
